Funk & Company
RIP pro wrestling legend Terry Funk, 79. He was old school, not musclebound, relying on persona. He was occasionally a babyface but was much better as a heel. His ring antics were so creative and amusing, the ultimate redneck attacking ethnicity. Billed as from the Double Cross Ranch, he carried a branding iron, with which he marked his victims. Born in Indiana, his family relocated to Amarillo, Texas. He attended what is now West Texas State, competing in wrestling and football. His dad, Dory Funk Sr., was a promoter. Terry made his debut in 1965. His last official match came in 2006. He retired in 2017. He and brother Dory Jr. rose through the ranks as both individuals and as a tag team. He held many titles. His first stint in the WWF in the mid-80’s was so much fun. He had a natural flair for zaniness, which was especially appreciated in Japan. He also did movies and TV, and cut three albums. Although there are 72 titles under his name at IMDb in the category of Actor, most are wrestling videos. Charts at Wiki reveal he appeared in nine films, including Beyond the Mat (1999), a documentary. He has six credits in TV, including six episodes of Wildside and eleven of Tequila and Bonetti. Married from 1965 until his wife’s death in 2019, he was a father of two. He was an original. Thank you, Sir. Photo from Google Images:

I have the feeling someone is paying Christie to attack Trump. Could it be only personal animus? Opinions vary as to who won last night’s debate. I think the only Republican who has a chance of winning the presidency is Trump. The genuine polls show him with a four-point lead over Quid Pro Joe. That’s why Dems are working so feverishly to put him behind bars or to at least hamper his ability to campaign.
Today’s session of the floating book shop was curtailed an hour by rain. My thanks to the old-timer who bought The Miracle Heart: The Ultimate Guide to Preventing and Curing Heart Disease With Diet and Supplements by Jean Carper, and to the young man who overcompensated me for Wizard’s Daughter: Bride by Catherine Coulter… Robert, a local porter who has been kind to me, stopped to chat. I learned a bit about his past. He impregnated a 15-year-old back in the day. He was in his early 20’s. They moved in together. She gave birth at 16, a son, Robert’s first born. He made ends meet by working as a drug go-between for people at his place of employment. He is now 60 and single.
