Laugh or cry headline from nypost.com: “Pay to plague: Hochul gave COVID test contract to campaign donor that charged taxpayers double.” Either way, it’s not the least bit surprising. The fraud in government programs is staggering, and all it gets is a shrug… And another: “‘Incorrect’: Lab retracts results that showed arsenic in water at NYCHA complex.” My bad, as the young say. Lawsuits foiled. Shysters despair.

Disappointing news in this NYP headline: “Apple ‘playing with fire’ buying iPhone 14 parts from Chinese supplier: lawmakers.” Wouldn’t it be great if the company could buy them from Taiwan?

From an NYP article by Nicole Lampert, in my own words: Roy Scheider passed away 14 years ago at 75. The film he was working on was not released because a critical scene came out flawed. Finally, technology has allowed the print to be cleaned. Beautiful Blue Eyes is the story of a retired NYPD officer, holocaust survivor, plotting revenge.

Promising news in this NYP headline: “Scientists move closer to ‘unlimited clean energy’ with ‘artificial sun’.” In the accompanying article, Ariel Zilber explains that the dream of fusion-created energy may soon be realized. Unlike fission, it doesn’t create hazardous waste. The technology is a product of South Korea. Great, but I still doubt it would stop global warming, which I believe is occurring naturally.

Foxnews.com headline sure to get gun control advocates riled: “Texas teen shoots, kills two suspects breaking into Harris County home.”

Only one buyer on this glorious day at the floating book shop. My thanks to the elderly woman who strolled up with her walker and purchased the massive large print edition of The Summer I Dared by Barbara Delinsky.
