Gone Much Too Soon
RIP Lisa Marie Presley, 54, who succumbed to a heart attack. She was the only child of a celebrity I ever felt compassion for. How the heck do you live in the shadow of someone who was practically deified? She made it work, carving out her own musical career, writing the lyrics and melody of many of her songs. Her first two albums, To Whom It May Concern and Now What, cracked Billboard’s Top Ten, the debut certified Gold. Her third, Storm & Grace, rose to #45. The single Lights Out hit #34. The first of her four marriages was to musician Danny Keough. They had two kids, Benjamin and Riley, the latter a successful actress, the former a suicide at 27. Presley then made unfortunate decisions, marrying Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage. Her fourth marriage, to her guitarist, music producer and director Michael Lockwood, ended bitterly in 2021. They had twins. Presley’s biggest mark was in the work she did for numerous charities. She was also involved in Scientology. Gone much too soon. May she find peace on the other side. Headline from nypost.com: “Suspicious claim: Dem lawmaker suggests classified docs ‘planted’ in Biden office, garage.” Those dang right-wingers are at it again.
Love this headline from NYP: “My teacher said I’d go nowhere in life — now he pays $1K for my sexy snaps.” The same was said of this guy, photo from GI:
Interesting development in the energy battle, headline from foxnews.com: “NJ congressman demands investigation into whether offshore wind projects are killing whales.”
For some reason, a PDF manuscript file, which produces a beautiful print copy, does not work well with Kindle. The version of my latest work, Coincidence, a novella, suffered line and paragraph breaks galore and the formatting was inconsistent. For best results, Kindle requires Microsoft Word, which is no longer free. I finally found a way to make a Word file without renting the program. More importantly, I was able to place it on my desktop, which enabled me to submit it to Amazon. The Kindle of Coincidence is now not an embarrassment, although not perfect. I visited ilovepdf.com, where one can change a file to Word or vice versa. The trick was getting it to the desktop. I’m not totally sure, but I believe it found its way into my One Drive, and the rest was easy. I also updated my previous novella, Class of ’67. Yay team!
