Good Day for Good Guys
A win for the good guys in two states. Headline out of Florida from foxnews.com: “Suspect brutally beats pregnant woman — armed bystander takes quick action.” No shots fired… And from L.A.: “Police announce 18 arrests in retail theft ring day after new sheriff sworn in.” And what looks like a major win overseas, but at great cost: “Iran shuts down morality police in response to protests: report.” “Hundreds have died in recent protests in Iran, including 50 minors and 30 security forces members.” Article by Michael Lee.
And in the battle on the free speech front, from FN: “Elon Musk thanks advertisers for returning to Twitter.”
Yesterday’s rain allowed me time to complete the third draft of my latest book, Coincidence. I’m disappointed in its length, just under 22,000 words, shorter even than Class of ’67, which surprises me, as there seems so much more to it. It will grow a bit more, but probably by less than 200 words. In 14-point font, it’s 140 pages, about an hour+ read.
A beautiful day for curbside business. My thanks to Ann, who bought another book for her anglophile mother-in-law: My Husband and I: The Inside Story of 70 Years of the Royal Marriage by Ingrid Seward; and to the young woman who purchased three bios in Russian for her mom; and to the young dad who took home three kids’ books.
