RIP baseball legend “Hammerin’” Hank Aaron, 86. A five-tool player, he spent the first 20 years of his career with the Braves, the last two with the Brewers. He finished with a batting average of .305, 3771 hits, 755 home runs and the following all-time records: 2297 RBI, 6856 total bases, 1477 extra base hits, and 25 appearances at the All-Star game. He was a World Series champion with Milwaukee in 1957, the year he was named NL MVP. He was a three-time winner of the Gold Glove Award, two-time batting champion, four-time home run leader, four-time RBI leader. His #44 was retired by both the Braves and Brewers. He is a member of the MLB and Braves Hall of Fame, and Major League Baseball’s All-Century Team. After his playing career ended, he moved into the Braves’ front office. He also owned several car dealerships. And he did it all with class and grace. Awesome, sir.

Here’s the cover of his bio:

Many make an occasional Freudian slip. Upchuck Schumer had a beauty on the senate floor today: “Make no mistake, there will be a trial and when that trial ends, senators will have to decide if they believe Donald John Trump incited the erection… insurrection against the United States.” OMG — does this mean he’s actually human?

I told myself not to be pissed when I was unable to secure a favorable parking spot despite being in the car an hour before the expiration of the alternate side regulation. Today’s session of the floating book shop could not have gone much better than it did at my alternate site. My thanks to the young man who purchased my Exchanges and Sometimes God has a Kid’s Face by Mary Rose McGeady; and to the woman who took home a CD collection on hypnotism and Brain Wave Vibration: Getting Back into the Rhythm of a Happy, Healthy Life by Ilchi Lee ; and to the gentleman who bought The Emperor of Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Siddhartha Mukherjee for himself and three hardcovers in Russian for his girlfriend Victoria; and to the woman who selected a book in Russian; and to the gent who chose Berlitz Phrase Book & Dictionary Eastern Europe by APA Publications Limited.
