Headline from nypost.com that will not surprise even partisans: “Health officials undercounted COVID nursing home deaths to boost Cuomo’s ‘narrative’.” Off by at least 4100. “A mere bag’o shells,” Ralph Kramden might say.

Is it too late to ban travel from China to the USA and other countries? Headline from newsmax.com: “Hospitals Overwhelmed as China Registers Over 1,000 COVID Cases for Fourth Day.” Sorry to break my Covid moratorium, folks, but the pandemic may not be over.

Journalists have died covering the war in Ukraine. Here’s a reminder of another war close to home, headline from NM: “Journalist Killed in Mexico, Eighth So Far This Year.” Shot to death.

Putin has placed sanctions on Quid Pro Joe, Hillary, Pelosi and others, which is laughable. Those reprobates have peddled enough influence to see them through multiple lifetimes.

Headline from foxnews.com: “Russian model who trashed Putin on social media found dead in suitcase: report.” She disappeared a year ago.

RIP NY Islanders defenseman Jean Potvin, 72. The last two seasons of his eleven-year career were the first two Islanders Cup wins. He was on the roster but did not participate in the playoffs in either season, instead providing color in the radio broadcast booth. Although he was the older brother of Denis, he was overshadowed by the Hall of Famer. He played for several other teams during his run, amassing 63 goals and 224 assists overall. Well done, sir.

Another perfect day to sell stuff curbside. My thanks to my constant benefactress, who donated three works of non-fiction and a bunch more classical CD’s; and to Jim, who bought three of my books: Five Cents, Rising Star and Billionths of a Lifetime; and to Arthur, who took home Violets Are Blue by James Patterson, I, Michael Bennett by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge, Miracle on the 17th Green by James Patterson and Peter de Jonge; and On the Run by Iris Johansen; and to the gentleman who selected The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and I Am America (And So Can You!) by Stephen Colbert; and to The Quiet Man, who purchased an opera compilation, The Apple Turnover Murder by Joanne Fluke, The Chocolate Jewel Case by JoAnna Carl, and Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board by Bethany Hamilton. The lion-hearted young woman is now 32 and a mom of three.
