Here, There

Pelosi shares a spot atop the list of politicians I despise most, but I believe the move to deny her holy communion is wrong. For believers, God is supposed to be the judge. For the record, I’m not religious.
RIP pro golfer Bart Bryant, 59, killed in a car accident. Born in Texas, his dad a Baptist pastor, he was a two-time All-American at New Mexico St. and turned pro in 1986. He won three PGA tour events, all after age 40, his early career hampered by injuries. He earned his way back on tour six times through the nerve-wracking, since disbanded Q-School. His best year was 2005 when he rose to #22 in the world rankings. He won twice on the Champions (Seniors) Tour. He earned more than $4.5 million playing the game he loved. Well done, sir.
It was so invigoratingly cool today at the floating book shop that I wasn’t tired after closing time. Many mentioned the complete contrast in weather from yesterday. I’m surprised a severe thunderstorm didn’t occur. My thanks to the woman who bought a book in Russian, and to the gentleman who purchased Guilt by Jonathan Kellerman; and to my constant benefactress, who donated a bio of JFK Jr., which was spotted by Sam, who recounted being at a convention of journalists in Seattle that John-John addressed. At the time Junior had launched W magazine and was asked if fame was a help or hindrance. He said his name enabled him to meet anyone, Bill Gates et. al, which was wonderful in terms of acquiring ad revenue. In his speech he mentioned putting the kibosh on a major story on the tobacco industry because the magazine had a five million dollar ad deal with RJ Reynolds — and people booed and lambasted the lack of journalistic integrity! Sam also said several women were disappointed that Junior was short, about five-eight-or-nine. That didn’t bother Elaine Benes. Unfortunately, the best stills of the moment she learns Junior will be in her aerobics class are in a format not supported by the blog. This will have to do.
