How ‘bout this grouping? Hollywood Boys Choir, 1973. From Top Left Kent Mccord, Martin Milner, Charles Nelson Reilly, Ed Asner, Glenn Ford, Red Foxx, Jack Carter, Ernest Borgnine, John Wayne and Howard Cosell, culled from Take a Virtual Tour Through History — 33 Interesting Images From Days Long Gone by EBW Curation Editor at msm.com:

Last night the Svengoolie program, channel 41–3 on OTA in NYC, ran Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde (1953), perhaps the only flick of the legendary duo’s I hadn’t seen. It’s good clean fun-duh! Boris Karloff plays the villain, Craig Stevens the heroic reporter, Helen Westcott the suffragette in distress. Westcott had a solid career spanning 1944–’77, 70 credits equally divided between the big and small screen. Her most notable role is the female lead in The Gunfighter (1950), opposite Gregory Peck. Married three times, a mom of one, she succumbed to cancer at 70 in 1998. Also in the cast of the aforementioned, John Dierkes as the creepy assistant. There are 95 titles under his name at IMDb, career spanning ‘48-’73. Here are five notable movies in which he appeared: Orson Welles’ Macbeth (1948), The Thing from Another World (1951), Friendly Persuasion (1956), Touch of Evil (1958), One-Eyed Jacks (1971). He appeared in numerous prime time shows, including four episodes of Gunsmoke. A dad of four, he passed away at 69 in 1975. Photos from Google Images:

And for those who enjoy Hollywood bios, a new book is about to drop. Photo from Amazon.com:

Headline from nypost.com: “NYC legal weed shop landed $7M in sales in 2024 — nearly two decades after the owner was locked up for selling marijuana.”

Caption from an NYP article by Angela Barbuti: “Murielle Borst Tarrant used her experiences growing up in the only Native American family in her Brooklyn neighborhood as material for her one-woman show Tipi Tales from the Stoop.” Red Hook in the ’70s. Her family has owned the house since the 1800s. Her gram still lives there. Photo from NYP:

I added Number One Grandson to the By the Numbers ebook and republished it. Sure enough, a ditty from the past has come back to me and I’m going to add it to another of the stories: Two Relaxing: “Cocktails, ginger ale, five cents a glass, if you do not like it, shove it up your… Ask me no questions, I’ll tell you no more lies.”

I experimented today with the Anti-Inflation Book Shop. I set up in front of the local library, which is set back from the street about 30 feet. The wall of the building beside it provided a shield from the bitter wind, and the area gets abundant sunshine, so I was fine. Alas, there was little foot traffic, at least on this cold January day. Still, better than staying home the whole day.
