Hot & Cold Air

I’m not sure if the following is bad economic news or simply the city continuing to allow people to get away with criminal behavior. Headline from nypost.com: “NYCHA rent collection crashes to record low.”

Telling end quote from an NYP editorial: “…tax receipts are at a record high by any measure, which means Uncle Sam has never collected more money, but is still managing to spend it all, and then some.”

Big Brother-type move, headline from newsmax.com: “DirecTV Drops NEWSMAX; House GOP Furious Over ‘Deplatforming’.” According to the article by Marisa Herman, NM is the “…fourth highest-rated cable news channel and a top 20 channel overall.” Has CNN, whose ratings have fallen off a cliff, been dropped?

From an FN article by Julia Musto, in my own words: There’s an interesting development on the energy front — nuclear reactors that are one-third the size of those currently in use. A power plant will be able to house up to twelve factory-built power modules. Surprisingly, The Energy Department has ponied up $600 million in support since 2014. I would have thought nuclear energy was dead in America. Unfortunately, the first module will not be ready until 2029. The article does not mention the opinion of environmentalists.

Speaking of environmentalists, here’s a cartoon from Gary Varvel lampooning the elitists of the World Economic Forum:

Headline from foxnews.com: “North Carolina police officer’s body camera stops suspect’s bullet from hitting her.” According to the accompanying article by Adam Sabes, the assailant, female, was later shot dead by another officer.

I attended to a chore, so the floating book shop opened an hour-and-a-half later than usual, then was abbreviated by rain. No sales, but local porter Rudy delivered a cache of DVDs in Russian that includes the first 20 Bond flicks. My thanks.
