Humdinger

As if he hasn’t behaved despicably enough, headline from foxnews.com: “Cuomo to allow inmates to receive COVID vaccine before NY taxpayers.”

Here’s an FN headline that’s sure to disappoint lovers: “NYC’s Valentine’s Day sewage plant tour will be virtual this year.” Nothing says romance like the scent of garbage.

The snow storm must have slowed mailed delivery. I didn’t received a DVD from Netflix this week. Last night I watched an episode of The Blacklist for the first time since it was moved to Friday night several years ago. There was a big surprise — no one was killed!

It takes all kinds to make a world. Here are three oddities I witnessed today. As I was walking to Stop n Shop just after six AM, temperature 34, a stocky guy wearing a T-shirt passed riding a bike… Midday, a guy weighing at least 300 pounds took a flop as he exited Chase. Fortunately he wasn’t hurt. It took three of us to help him get to his feet… Soon another guy passed on foot humming the theme to Bonanza, singing the show’s title after his riffing…

Luck was with the floating book shop today. The last parking space along the Chase bank was open and there was minimal snow at the curb. It took a couple of minutes to push it under the tree. The weather was beautiful. People started buying well before I had the full display in place. My thanks to the gentleman who bought a Reader’s Digest compilation of four condensed novels, The Shoes of the Fisherman by Morris West and The Seduction of Water by Carol Goodman; and to the couple that purchased Cocktails: Modern Favorites to Make at Home by Williams Sonoma Test Kitchen; and to the young man who selected The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins; and to the gentleman who overcompensated me for Instant Karma: 8,879 Ways to Give Yourself and Others Good Fortune Right Now by Barbara Ann Kipfer and a huge glossary of law terms in English, French and Arabic. Now it’s wait and see if tomorrow’s snow is closer to three than six inches.
