I Hope You Dance

Cue Lee Ann Womack. Human beings are remarkable, although it too often is in a negative way. Here’s something positive: dancing in a subway in Kyiv, Ukraine. Photo from theguardian.com:

Unsurprising headline from nypost.com: “SVB donated $73M to Black Lives Matter movement, social justice causes.” Are board members still feeling virtuous? Probably, since they’ve been bailed out.

Paging Al Gore, headline from NYP: “Greta Thunberg reportedly deletes 2018 tweet claiming ‘climate change will wipe out all of humanity’ by 2023.” An inconvient truth?… Also on the environmental front: “NJ officials wipe out forest trying to save American woodcock bird.” Relax, only 21 acres.

And on the Mad Vlad watch, from NYP: “Paying the price: Putin purge? 39 top Russians dead by ‘suicide,’ COVID and ‘shaman rites’.”

Have producers seen the light or is it a cynical move to boost box office? Headline from foxnews.com: “Upcoming ‘Superman’ movie restores ‘American way’ phrase to famous motto.”

Beautiful day, nice result for the floating book shop. My thanks to those who bought, donated and swapped items. Here’s what sold: a book on Knitting, Adaptation to Life by George E. Vaillant; Mind over Weight: Curb Cravings, Find Motivation, and Hit Your Number in 7 Simple Steps by Ian K. Smith M.D.; Shaping Your Career: A Guide for Early Career Faculty by Don Haviland, Anna M. Ortiz, et al.; I Want to Do Something Else, But I’m Not Sure What It Is: Find a Job That’s Fit for You by Ron Krannich and Caryl Krannich; Personality Profiles by Helen Baron; Career Match: Connecting Who You Are with What You’ll Love to Do by Shoya Zichy and Ann Bidou; Queens: Women in Power Through History by Phyllis G. Jestice; Cursed Days: Diary of a Revolution by Ivan Bunin and Thomas Gaiton Marullo; Impressionism: Golden Decade (1872–1882) by Lawrence and Elisabeth Hanson; World of the French Revolution by R.R. Palmer; a pictorial on the seven wonders of the world; and a large paperback mystery whose title escapes me. I am blessed.

The seven wonders of the ancient world were the Colossus of Rhodes, Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, and Lighthouse of Alexandria. Here’s a pic from Google Images that does not follow the above order.
