It would be nice if Maxwell eschews suicide and decides to name names, but I’m not optimistic.

This is Jana Tobias, 44, 20-year Army helicopter pilot vet. She is Miss June 2022 in the annual Pin-Up for Vets calendar. Among her many deployments, she served twice in Iraq, and during Hurricane Katrina. Kudos, madam.

Interesting development on the world stage highlighted in a foxnews.com headline: “China deploys armed robotic vehicles during standoff with India to deal with cold, difficult terrain: reports.” Life imitate sci-fi.

No action for the first two hours at the floating book shop on this unusually mild late December day. My thanks to the woman who bought Dead Heat by Joel C. Rosenberg. Soon the Latino gentleman pulled up on his bike and overcompensated me for CDs by Gwen Stefani, Three Doors Down and the Greenwich Village Orchestra, and DVDs of Rush Hour 2 (2001), The One (2001) and Good Boy (2003), and a travel guide to Bangkok. Gracias, amigo, and spasibo to the woman who purchased a book in Russian as I was packing up.
