In & Out

Here’s a much-needed breath of fresh air out of Hollywood. Paul Giamatti hit an In-N-Out burger joint after his Golden Globes win for Best Actor for his performance in The Holdovers (2023). Even if only a publicity stunt, it was inspired. One question: was the food served at the show bad? Photo from Google Images:

Here’s news everyone has been waiting for. Headline from nypost.com: “The over 150-year mystery of why urine is yellow has finally been cracked: study.” According to the article by Richard Pollina: “Researchers… have identified bilirubin (BilR) as the key enzyme that makes one’s liquid gold, well… gold.” I’m so relieved, pun intended.

Again, I’m not a fan of Nikki Haley, who I see as swamp, but she or her writers come up with a great zinger every now and then. From NYP: “Haley scolds Biden for ‘lecturing’ her in South Carolina speech: ‘Someone who palled around with segregationists’.” Kudos.

Is there an Epstein tape of Trump having sex with one of his “slaves” or is the accusation politicking?

An NYP headline inspired a Google search. As of 7/’23 there are 3657 original programs on Netflix. I am not interested in paying for TV, but I am stunned by this impressive contribution to the economy. Kudos.

When channel nine in NYC ran two episodes of The X-Files per week a few years ago, it left a lot of them out. The Comet channel, 2–5 on OTA in NYC, now runs four per night. Halfway through season two, I’ve had no recollection of several, which I probably hadn’t seen since they first aired in the ’90s. Yay!

Fun headline from foxnews.com: “Clinton library deletes post asking people to guess who ex-POTUS sent his first email to: ‘Jeffrey Epstein?’.” Kudos to all the jokers who responded that way.

I did a pre-colonoscopy consultation today. It’s scheduled for the 15th. I don’t want to get my hopes up, but the doctor said there is a new procedure to attack hemorrhoids. If they are big enough, and my two are, a rubber band can be tied around each, and it can be done the same time as the colonoscopy. Eventually the band breaks and, in many cases, the bleeding stops. Surgeons who perform the burn procedure are pissed, as the new one has curtailed their easy money flow. The burn isn’t full proof, either. It sounds too good to be true, but what is there to lose?

The floating book shop was drizzled out as the nor-easter approaches. It’s supposed to last well into tomorrow. I’ve completed work on my latest story, whose title I’ve cropped to 4-Ever. It came in at less than 1200 words. I added it to the three other stories in the Google Docs file, which is now less than 13,000 words, still a long way from book length.
