Inspiration, Glastonbury Festival — headline from nypost.com: “Michael J Fox surprises 100K fans, joins Coldplay on guitar during historic gig in emotional moment: ‘Our hero’.” Recall that he is battling Parkinson’s. Photo from Google Images:

From NYP: “NYC politicians want to create office of ‘black male excellence’.” They are desperate to reach those who have embraced lawlessness. I hope it works, but I’m not optimistic. To date, it seems self-esteem has been a futile crusade.

Excerpts from a foxnews.com article by Stephen Moore: “… having struck out with consumers, businesses and at the ballot box, now the greens are moving on to the courts. The climate change industrial complex has now joined forces with trial lawyers to advance their war on fossil fuels.” And: “… shouldn’t they be suing China?” Spot on, Sir. Include India. But the lawyers aim is cash, not justice, and they would not get any from the world’s leading polluters. It is a marriage made in hell.

Good news from FN: “Carjacker gets sent to hospital after having his ‘butt whipped’ by 66-year-old man.”

Here’s an interesting bit of trivia regarding one of the most popular albums of all time, Led Zeppelin IV and the “Stick Man” on its cover. Brian Edwards of the University of the West of England came across the original copy of the image in a Victorian photo album while looking at auction house news releases on the internet. The subject’s name was Lot Long. He worked as a roof thatcher. Born in 1823, he was 69 when the shot was taken. He died in 1893. The newly discovered pic is black and white and is thought to be the original because of a thumbprint found in one corner. The handwriting in the album also matches the signature of Victorian photographer Ernest Howard Farmer, who may have used the image to teach students how to colorize photos. My thanks to Mother Nature for providing a rain-free window for the Anti-Inflation Book Shop on this extremely muggy day, and to The Frenchman, who took home Introduction to Cultural Anthropology by Michael J. Simonton; and to the gentleman who bought The Replacement Killers (1998) DVD; and to the woman who purchased Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion and Diana Keuilian; and to the woman who selected The Testament by John Grisham.
