Interesting Times
Let the hysteria begin. Will the number of abortions performed in America actually diminish? Meanwhile, here’s an interesting though unsurprising headline from foxnews.com: “Liberal journalists turn on Ruth Bader Ginsburg after landmark abortion ruling.” Had she resigned during the Obama administration, the court would now have a liberal rather than a conservative bias, and abortion would have still had federal government sanction.
On the constitutionality of the NYC gun law, the justices voted 6–3 to strike it down, a victory for those who wish to conceal and carry. Breyer, Kagan and Sotomayor are the three who opposed, which means the newest justice, Brown, must have sided with conservatives. I have not spotted one article on this factor. Will her liberal brethren denounce her decision? It will probably be dwarfed by the abortion furor.
For the record, I agree with both rulings, although they may have sent many centrists left, which would allow liberals to hold onto power in November. Then again, they have long ago won the battle for America. They own the mainstream media, the public schools, universities, Hollywood, most big cities and many corporate boardrooms. The social safety net is humongous, porn and homosexuality are mainstream, divorce common, climate hysteria and political correctness rule, marijuana is all but legal everywhere, profanity is rife. And natural political animals that leftists are, they will not rest. They will wear out the resistant. There were hundreds of riots before the only one that has been investigated, 1/6/’21. Don’t be surprised if there are hundreds more in ‘22.
Amusing sub-headline from nypost.com: “Russian President Vladimir Putin is so worried about enemies getting a look at his poop that he reportedly employs a special team of people who retrieve his excrement wherever and whenever he travels.” Feces often reveal the illness one suffers.
Headline from newsmax.com: “Amazon Unveils 1st Fully Autonomous Warehouse Robot.” Will the bots vote to unionize?
It was a gorgeous day to sell stuff curbside, several degrees short of warm. My thanks to the lovely teenager who bought The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger, and to the lovely young woman who purchased eight works of non-fiction, including a huge Biology textbook; and to Wolf, who took home about 20 non-fiction WWII paperbacks. He was born in Russia one week after the end of the war. He dubbed today’s haul “Happy Hour.” My thanks also to Robert, who donated a bunch of bootleg DVDs and CDs, and to Marty, NYPD retired, who delivered another cache of popular hardcovers, and who is very happy with the court’s ruling on guns. “These are interesting times,” he said. Who would disagree?
