Interspersed

Interspersed in today’s blog will be facts from 38 Random Bits of Trivia We Recruited Out of the Transfer Portal by Jay Wells at msm.com. The first — thinking outside the box:

Armed Argentinian. Headline from nypost.com: “Tables turned: Shocking video shows 78-year-old fatally shoot teenager who tried to rob him.”

From NYP: “Gunman tackled by parent after opening fire on Texas high school band competition.” Kudos, Sir.

Hey, hey:

Just when the crushed rock salt we’d been inhaling the past two weeks was washed away by rain, another batch was laid out this morning, unnecessarily it seems. Fie!

“Nice work if you can get it, and if you can get it, won’t you tell me how.” ( Ira Gershwin / George Gershwin).

Couldn’t ask for better weather in early February — no wind, above 40 degrees and even a bit of sunshine late at today’s session of the Anti-Inflation Book Shop. My thanks to the gentleman I hadn’t seen in a couple of years, who bought Live Free or Die by Sean Hannity, Word for Word by Andy Rooney, Testament of Youth: One Woman’s Haunting Record of the First World War by Vera Brittain, and Israfel: The Life and Times of Edgar Allan Poe by Hervey Allen; and to the ladies who between them purchased three books in Russian; and to the woman who took home The Everything Low-Carb Cookbook: 300 Delicious Recipes to Help Reduce Your Carbohydrates and Stay Healthy by Patricia M. Butkus (Any relation to Dick?); and to Marty, NYPD retired, who donated four books.

What’s the late fee for a book taken out in 859?:
