Into the Wind

Today’s brilliant sunshine was diminished by an unfriendly wind but inspired a search on the subject. Here is the result:
Bob Dylan: “The answer my friend, is blowin’ in the wind…” It must have blown right past me.
The Association (Ruthann Friedman): “…And Windy has stormy eyes/ That flash at the sound of lies…” A radar desperately needed in these trying times.
Kansas (Kerry Livgren): “All we are is dust in the wind…” Many — most? — do not behave as if this is the case.
Gogi Grant (Stanley Lebowsky/Herb Newman): “The wayward wind is a restless wind…” Kind of like the metaphorical one sweeping across America at present.
Bob Seger: “…I’m older now but still runnin’ against the wind…” I’m sure it’s not what Mr. Seger intended, but it perfectly describes the right’s struggle against liberalism, a battle it’s been losing since at least FDR. In my case, trying to sell/promote my books curbside.
Frank Sinatra (Johnny Mercer/ Henry Mayer /Hans Bradtke): “… The autumn wind and the winter winds/ They have come and they have gone…” I’ll believe it when I see it.
And back to Mr. Dylan: “Idiot wind/ Blowing through the buttons of our coats/ Blowing through the letters that we wrote/ Idiot wind/ Blowing through the dust upon our shelves/ We’re idiots, babe/ It’s a wonder we can even feed ourselves.” Amen.

Guilty conscience? Headline from nypost.com: “Texas man allegedly robbed home, mowed victim’s yard.”

NYP headline: “Even with income limit of $125K, Biden’s student-loan forgiveness is unfair to most Americans.” $125K — this is a joke, right?

For those still hoping Hillary will finally be jailed, sobering headline from newsmax.com: “Setback in Durham Probe After Judge Limits Prosecutor’s Evidence.” Fie!

Refreshing headline from foxnews.com: “One state pledges new social studies standards will ‘not be apologetic for America’.” Louisiana. Kudos.

Another gem from the goombah:

My thanks to the lovely teenager who bought The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and to Movie Buff, who purchased The Road by Cormac McCarthy; and to the gentleman who donated two handsome kids’ books and insisted on paying for two pictorials in Russian.
