RIP superlative Dolphins Safety Jake Scott, 75, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a fall in his home. He was the MVP of Super Bowl VII, in which he had two interceptions, and also a big part of the next season’s championship. He is Miami’s career leader in interceptions, snaring 35 in six seasons. He had 49 overall, playing his last three seasons for the Redskins. He also had 13 fumble recoveries overall. All-America at Georgia, he was a seventh round draft pick who proved talent evaluators wrong. He played in five Pro Bowls and was first team All-Pro twice, second team three times. Well done, sir.

Here’s why I think President Trump’s bid to overturn the election will go nowhere. Even though there probably are a lot of fraudulent votes in the mix, it’s not enough to change the outcome. Many more people identify as Democrats than Republicans or Independents. The left made sure mail-in ballots were distributed widely. Is it fair? I’m not sure I can get past my partisan beliefs to answer that objectively.

The glorious weather was no help to book sales. My thanks to the woman who bought two books in Russian, and to Mike, who delivered five titles on his passion — betting the horses; and to Wolf, who brought several translations of Sidney Sheldon novels in Russian; and Andy F-Bomb, who donated a cache of YA fantasy by Rick Riordan and Percy Jackson, and a beautifully illustrated edition of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. All will prove valuable another day. At least one writer’s family had a big payday, to which this foxnews.com headline attests: “Bob Dylan’s unpublished song lyrics and other documents sell for $495G.” They were owned by a lifelong friend, blues artist Tony Glover, who passed away last year. Among the 37 typed pages are hand written notes. One bit of info in the accompanying article ruined a song for me forever. Apparently, Lay Lady Lay was written for Barbra Streisand. Yuck!
