247 years old. Long may she live.

Headline from nypost.com: “For press, Supreme Court is in ‘crisis’ because it agrees with most Americans.”

Headline from foxnews.com: “California reparations panelist blasts White men as a ‘danger to society’.” Does she have an opinion on black-on-black violence or simply ignore it?

From foxbusiness.com, an interesting turn of events on the environmental front, opening line from an article by Lawrence Richard: “Ten states are suing the Biden administration for allowing consumers to continue buying and using wood-burning stoves, claiming the appliances are more damaging to the environment than what a previous assessment found.”

From FN out of South Carolina: “Trump rally draws massive crowd that was 1,500% larger than city’s population.” Despite intense heat.

RIP Vince Tobin, who worked his way up to a sports’ height few attain. Born in Missouri, he attended the university and played as a DB. Immediately upon graduation in 1965 he entered the coaching ranks, acting as a graduate assistant at his alma mater. He was the Tigers’ defensive coordinator from ‘71-’76, then did five years in Canada with the BC Lions and three with the USFL’s Philadelphia/Baltimore Stars. He finally got to the NFL in ’86, serving seven years as the Bears DC, then two with the Colts. In ’96 he was named head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. In five years his record was 28–43. He had only one winning season, ’98, the team finishing 9–7 and upsetting the Cowboys in the wild card round, the franchise’s first playoff win in 50 years. He was fired seven games into the 2000 season. He was the Lions’ DC in 2001, and a special assistant with the Packers in ’04. I love the way he worked his way up the ranks. Well done, sir.

High humidity again. I displayed only 20% of the floating book shop’s inventory. My thanks to the kind folks who donated and swapped, and to Wolf, who bought a Sandra Brown translation in Russian, a DVD in that language, a Josh Groban CD, and this, one of my favorites, one of the most beautifully shot films ever and a great story, directed by the great Zhang Yimou:
