This may be the most amusing headline of the day. From nypost.com: “Naked truth: Notorious stripper named Viva Las Vegas running for mayor of woke Portland plans to combat exodus from city with unusual solution.” And from the sub-headline: “…bring in more artists.” If I’m not mistaken, this has worked in the past — and after the artists have revived an area they are forced out by high rents. RIP comedian Richard Lewis, 76, who succumbed to a heart attack. Born in Brooklyn, raised in Jersey, he earned a degree in marketing and communications from Ohio St.. Before taking to the stage he wrote jokes for comedians and ad copy. In 1974 he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, always a boost to a stand-up career. He was a favorite guest of David Letterman. He did several cable specials and Diary of a Young Comic (1979), a film. There are 64 titles under his name at IMDb, one project to be released posthumously. He did 56 episodes alone of Anything But Love, 41 of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and he did guest shots on a host of other popular programs. His big screen highlights are Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) and Leaving Las Vegas (1995). He has eleven credits as a writer. Married since 2005, he was childless. Thanks for the laughs, Sir. From NYP: “Ann-Margret, 82, still rides her Harley-Davidson.” Don’t know if it’s true or just publicity, but I like it anyway.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not subject. From NYP: “Weightlifter ate 39 coins, 37 magnets because he thought ‘zinc helps in bodybuilding’: report.”

Clever new term, headline from newsmax.com: “Lawfare Being Deployed Against Populist Leaders Worldwide.” That will never happen in America — not!

Headline from foxnews.com: “7.2M illegals entered the US under Biden admin, an amount greater than population of 36 states.”

From FN: “Play to have ‘all-Black’ audience nights to allow experience ‘free from the White gaze’.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this segregation?

As expected, not much action at the Anti-Inflation Book Shop on this brisk day dominated by an icy wind. My thanks to the gentleman who bought five hardcovers in Russian, and to the one who donated four books, two Russian, one Hebrew, one math; and to Alice, who dropped off a cookbook.
