Let There Be Lights

A feel-good story from foxnews.com by Daniella Genovese, in my own words: A neighborhood in Des Moines, Iowa, goes all out decorating each Christmas, attracting viewers who drive through in vehicles. Julie and Dale Marks used their display to collect food and donations for the Food Bank of Iowa. In September both contracted Covid. Dale almost didn’t make it, suffering two strokes and a heart attack, so it seemed the holiday tradition would be broken. A local construction boss and his four-man crew stepped up, and the tradition endures. Kudos to Bob the Builder LLC and his men. Photo from FN:

It gets tedious pointing out the difference between today’s society and the one in which one grew up, but this nypost.com headline seems to say a lot: “Gun and green: Student busted with loaded pistol, $30K in Brooklyn school.” Oh, and then there’s DeLousyio’s free zones for shooting up. I haven’t mentioned that name in so long. There was no need, as he is an absurd figure unworthy of attention.

It’s amusing how the left are desperate to tie Trump to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump banned him from Mar-a-Lago when he learned the sleazeball was stalking a 14-year-old worker, a daughter of one of the members. That, I believe, was in the 90’s. From then on he warned others about Epstein. Also — remember — a Trump travel ban is racist, a Biden travel ban is righteous.

I would never tell anyone how to handle Covid, but I love this cartoon:

I love this headline from foxnews.com: “Ted Cruz says ‘Women’s Tennis Association has bigger balls than the NBA’ on China.” The organization has refused to stage events there in protest of the missing female tennis player who made sexual assault allegations against a former high-ranking CCP official. Kudos.

It was warm enough for a full session of the floating book shop, and it was a good one. My thanks to the young man who bought two of my novels: Five Cents and Class of ’67, as well as a Russian-English Dictionary and a large paperback that contains three Mark Twain classics: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and The Prince and the Pauper. Thanks also to Wolf, who took home a Jurassic Park video game on DVD and Soldiers of ’44, a novel by William P. McGivern; and to the Latino gentleman who pulled up on his bike and, as usual, overcompensated me for his purchase: a Beethoven CD, The New Guy (2002) DVD, and a Nat Geo pictorial on medieval marvels; and to Andy F Bomb, who donated a kids book; and to the woman who swapped two hardcovers in Russian for a mystery written by four women.
