Liberty & More

Paris, the Louvre. Liberty Leading the People (1830) by Eugène Delacroix has been restored. We need you more than ever, madam. Photo by Dimitar Dilkoff/AFP/Getty Images, posted at theguardian.com:

Caption beneath a nypost.com headline and photo: “A group of wealthy white Baton Rouge residents have won a decades-long battle to split from the majority-black city to form their own suburb following the state’s Supreme Court ruling.” This is similar to what folks in eastern Oregon are attempting, separating from leftist policy forced on them, trying to becoming a part of Idaho.

From NYP: “Four out of five Americans favor Israel over Hamas, most back Rafah operation: poll.” Harvard CAPS/Harris survey. Harvard — is that irony?

Maybe this will wake up the college-age protesters. From NYP: “Iran’s death sentence for rapper shows how far it’ll go to squelch dissent.” They also throw gays off roofs and force a dress code on women.

I’m not by any means anti-AI. The medical advances it engenders are stunning. That said, here’s a scary headline from NYP: “‘AI death calculator’ creators issue urgent warning about frighteningly accurate tool.” It’s fodder for writers, as well. After months of coming up empty on the topic, I now have three AI ideas to integrate in a short story. This does not guaratee that it will fly.

Excerpt from an NYP editorial: “Iran’s proxies have resumed targeting US assets, believing it’s ‘safer to go after U.S. targets than Israeli targets’ — since ‘Israel strikes back.’” SMH.

Headline from newsmax.com: “Prosecutors: Won’t Retry Arizona Rancher Accused of Murder Near Southern Border.” Hung jury. Many Americans are fighting back and many more approve. An explosion seems imminent. Hope I’m wrong.

Headline from foxnews.com: “Gen Zers skip college to pursue more blue-collar jobs that AI can’t take.” Since college these days seems more about indoctrination than education, it would be nice if this trend went viral.

Dullsville at the Anti-Inflation Book Shop on this pleasant day. My thanks to the gentleman who bought My First Read and Learn Bible by Eva Moore, American Bible Society, and to the retired bus driver who purchased The Sign, a thriller by Raymond Khoury.
