RIP three-time World Series champion Ken Holtzman, 78, who succumbed to heart issues. Born in St. Louis, he graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he played baseball. The Cubs drafted him in 1965. A lefty, he played for them until ’71, tossing two no-hitters. He was traded to the A’s in ’72 and won Game One of the series that year and pitched well in the Game Four clincher. In ’73 he won Game Three of the ALCS, and Games One and Seven of the World Series. In ’74 he won Game Two of the ALCS and Game Four of the World Series, hitting a home run in the latter in the process. The rest of his career was spent with Baltimore, the Yankees and a return to the Cubs. In 15 seasons he was 174–150, 3.49 ERA. He was a two-time all-star. He is a member of the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame, St. Louis Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, the Chicago Cubs Hall of Fame, and the University of Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame. He was a father of three. Well done, Sir. Facts from Wiki, photo from Google Images:

Fodder for taxation argument, excerpt from an NYP editorial: “… The top 1% of earners contribute 46% of all income taxes, the most since 1980. The bottom 50% pay just 2.3%.”

Headline from newsmax.com: “DHS Monitoring 617K Migrants With Criminal Records.” Why were they allowed entry in the first place?

Among the many celebrations of 4/17, it’s Blah Blah Blah Day. Politicians rejoice!

Headline from foxnews.com out of North Carolina: “Student reportedly suspended for 3 days after using term ‘illegal alien’ during assignment.”

Guilt trip, from FN: “Molly Ringwald criticizes her ’80s movies as ‘really, very White,’ calls for any remakes to be more diverse.”

How I would love to see this coast to coast in November. From FN: “Liberal comedian pummels piñata after learning Trump gaining with Latino voters.” John Leguizamo. Alas, the forces of darkness have rallied to prevent Trump’s election. Meanwhile, Senor DT visited a Manhattan bodega yesterday. Photo by Darius Radzius, posted at X:

Not much action at the Ant-Inflation Book Shop on this gloomy day. My thanks to the woman who donated more than 50 CDs, DVDs and videotapes, and to the woman who bought a cookbook; and to Lou, who purchased Fast and Furious (2001) on VHS.
