Making a Splash

Splash II, from NYP: “Under the sea: Bizarre ‘mermaid’ creature washes ashore in Papua New Guinea — experts baffled.” Photo from Google Images.

Woke? I pray this isn’t true. Headline from nypost.com: “Heavy duty: Nearly 70% of American soldiers are obese or overweight — compromising national security: study.” SMH.

A sponsored article about T-shirts had me take a short cut to Google Images, where I found this one:

I had to look up Annabelle, which was featured in a film trilogy: Annabelle (2014), Annabelle: Creation (2017), and Annabelle Comes Home (2019). I was completely unfamiliar with it — and to think I consider myself a movie buff! The three have an average rating of just above six at IMDb, and each was highly successful at the box office. The series was inspired by a “legend” about a 28-year-old nurse who bought her mom a three-foot tall Raggedy Ann that allegedly behaved strangely. Photo from GI:

Another new term: “Intentional Intimacy” — taking planned action toward what you want knowing that hoping and wishing isn’t going to get you there. Sounds like a completely unnecessary addition and I wouldn’t be surprised if it fades quickly from the lexicon.

The first draft of the story I’m working on came in at 21 handwritten pages. I’ve already completed ten pages of the second draft. Writing is much more like play these days. I’m just trying to create an entertaining work. I haven’t come up with a satisfying title.

The rain didn’t move out until about one PM. I squelched the desire to go out and sell books. It wasn’t easy, despite writing filling the time constructively. Right now, just after two, the sun is shining through the window and into my eyes. It’s silly, but I feel I’m being negligent.
