Hope for the future in this nypost.com headline: “Queen’s granddaughter Lady Louise took minimum-wage summer job.” According to the accompanying article by Lee Brown, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, 18, 16th in line to the throne, is the daughter of the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward. She worked at a gardening center, earning minimum wage, the equivalent of eight bucks an hour American. Born in November, she is a Scorpio. She is described as modest and sweet. Also from NYP, bad moon rising: “Off-campus UC Berkeley student housing bans white people from common areas.” Silly me, I thought bigotry was bad.
Also from NYP: “Mars in Gemini will bring you spontaneous sex and mental foreplay.” This Gemini approves, even though I have no idea what it means even after googling it.
Hate to see people lose their jobs, but I find this NYP headline amusing: “Facebook parent Meta lays off 60 workers ‘at random’ using algorithm: report.” Maybe it would have been fairer to do it by astrological sign.
Excerpt from an NYP editorial: “‘America’s CEOs are in the dumps,’ with the Conference Board’s index that measures their sentiments down to 34 from ‘an all-time high of 82’ when President Donald Trump left office.” Anyone surprised? Will the stars ever again align for America?
Paltry return at the floating book shop on this gorgeous day. My thanks to the woman who bought Granny Dan by Danielle Steel, a Leo, and to Bill Brown, author of Words and Guitar: A History of Lou Reed’s Music and other fine books, sign unknown, who purchased When You are Engulfed in Flames: Adventurer in Archaeology by David Sedaris, a Capricorn. Then the brakes went out on the old Hyundai while driving home. Then the repair shop was closed, it being the Jewish sabbath. I’ve put off having the steering checked out, as I rarely drive more than a few miles these days. Maybe it’s time to dump the 19-year-old car, although it runs well. This Gemini is now as crabby as someone whose sign is Cancer.
