By night he’s a successful author, about to release his 10th novel — the mystery/romance The 13th Hour: Chaos. His books have been published in 34 countries. He is also a guitarist in a band (the drummer is Paul Shaffer, the bandleader for David Letterman), participates in triathlons, kite surfs and skydives. He sleeps six hours a night.

Headline from NYP: “Deaths in climate-related disasters declined 99 percent from a century ago.” This will only make the zealots more strident, more vocal. Truth that doesn’t jibe with their views must be shouted down.

Interesting episode of Combat! last night on Heroes & Icons, channel 9–4 on OTA in NYC. Anniversary, Season Five, Episode 18, stars Telly Savalas as a Frenchman mad with grief over the death of his wife and daughter, who he sees in hallucinations. He kills both American and German soldiers. It was the second of Telly’s two appearances on the show. Here he is in character, holding a marionette:

RIP actress Joanna Barnes, 87. Born in Massachusetts, she graduated with honors from Smith College. There are 100 titles under her name at IMDb in a career that spanned 1956–2000. She had roles in significant films such as Auntie Mame (1958), Spartacus (1960), The War Wagon (1967), and The Parent Trap (1961) and its 1998 remake, playing the gold-digger, then the gold-digger's mom. She did guest shots on many prime times shows, including at least three appearances on five. She was also a successful writer. She wrote at least four novels and a book on home decorating. She did a weekly book review for the Los Angeles Times and a column, Touching Home, carried by the Chicago Tribune and New York News Syndicate. (Facts also from Wiki) Well done, madam.
