Fodder for conspiracy buffs in this tragedy. Headline from nypost.com: “US attorney found dead at 43 was in charge of cases targeting CIA leaks, Russian fraud.” RIP, Madam.
From NYP: “The love of my life won’t commit to me, but I know we’re meant to be.” I’ve always wondered what percentage of lucky people end up with the love of their life. Later this morning, while playing the Ronettes/Phil Spector Be My Baby on the guitar, I was struck, as always, by the line “‘til eternity,” and wondered how many unfortunate folks thought they had it and saw it slip away. And while cleaning the floor a couple of hours later Adele’s Rolling in the Deep aired on Lite-FM, one of the great modern torch songs, chorus and vocal as good as it gets. The lyrics are not up to, for my money, the greatest torch song ever, Ira Gershwin’s The Man That Got Away, but the vocal is as good as any Judy Garland ever did — and there is no higher praise. Silly thoughts on a rainy day.
Bitcoin — all crypto currencies — baffle me. From NYP: “Who is bitcoin’s mysterious founder Satoshi Nakamoto? And why he ‘might not exist’.” It seems so appropriate and hilarious, as cryptos themselves seem invisible. Then again, isn’t our bank money invisible too?
Excerpt from an NYP editorial: “residents of the same Scandinavian countries that the press dutifully celebrates for their supposed happiness are especially likely to take antidepressants or even to commit suicide.” Would the reason for the cover up be that those nations are socialist?
I don’t feel qualified to comment on the tariff controversy. I was just listening to Hannity and was surprised to find out that Canada, China and Mexico have been imposing tariffs on American goods for years. WTF?
NCAA heavyweight Wrestling champ Wyatt Hendrickson, Oklahoma St., salutes the president:
RIP keyboardist Larry Tamblyn, 83, founding member of the Standells, who gave the world Dirty Water, which hit #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966 and still is heard regularly on oldies feeds and stations. Thank you, Sir. He was the younger brother of the multi-talented Russ Tamblyn, who is still living at 90. Photo from Google Images:
Just read an article on lowering cholesterol naturally. Two ounces of pecans, approximately 19 per day, is supposed to do the trick. I’ll try ten, prepping for the blood test I will take in three weeks, wondering if I’ve finally gone beyond borderline.
The Anti-Inflation Book Shop was rained out. Looking forward to tomorrow’s session.
