Headline from nypost.com: “Delaware Confiscates $100 Billion of Musk’s Wealth.” Which famous person is from Delaware?
From NM: “Harris Campaign Still Fundraising 3 Weeks After Loss.” Where are her Hollywood darlings?
Pulling a Schumer, headline from foxnews.com: “AOC’s ‘Red Light District’ plagued by crime as Democrat who helped her rise to power says she ‘disappeared’.”
From 20 times actors passed up on what became iconic roles by Jeff Mezydlo at msn.com, edited by yours truly, and I left a couple out:
Bruce Willis, Ghost (1990). He would have played opposite his then wife Demi Moore!
John Travolta, Forrest Gump (1994). Can’t imagine it.
Will Smith, The Matrix (1999). Keanu Reeves had a futuristic look perfect for the part.
Tom Selleck, Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). He would have been great.
Julia Roberts, Sleepless in Seattle (1993). There aren’t many roles she wouldn’t nail.
Molly Ringwald, Pretty Woman (1990). Good actress but not on Roberts’ level. Few are.
Michelle Pfeiffer, The Silence of The Lambs (1991). She would have had to eradicate her glamor.
Jack Nicholson as Michael in The Godfather (1972). As great as he is, ridiculous.
Viggo Mortensen as Wolverine, X-Men franchise. Would have been good.
Rachel McAdams, The Devil Wears Prada (2006). Would have been fine.
Mel Gibson, Gladiator (2000). Ten years too late.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, Clueless (1995). I can see it.
Clare Danes, Titanic (1990). Good actress, but not on a par with the great Kate Winslet.
Beyoncé, A Star is Born (2018). Natural fit, as it was for Gaga.
Angela Bassett, Monster’s Ball (2001). Fine actress but I’m not sure about this one.
Christina Applegate, Legally Blonde (2001). Similar to her character on Married with Children.
There was just enough sunshine to sustain the Anti-Inflation Book Shop on this cool day, and the return was good. My thanks to all the buyers and to Lou, who delivered a couple of DVDs; and to my Constant Benefactress, who donated Melania by the former and future First Lady, and to Herbie, who jumped on it. Here’s what else sold: two hardcovers in Russian; five graphic novels; The World’s Greatest Magic by Hyla M. Clark and Paul Levin; Pocket Genius: Mammals: Facts at Your Fingertips by DK; 1st to Die by James Patterson and You’ve Been Warned by James Patterson & Howard Roughan; Inferno by Dante Alighieri; a Guy de Maupassant short story collection; an art pictorial; Silver Spurs, a Christmas pictorial by an unknown author.
