This sounds like relief NYC needs. Headline from nypost.com: “Migrants abandon NYC for Canada with taxpayer-funded bus tickets.” Hasta la vista.
Excerpt from an NYP editorial: “New York City’s black population has dropped 9% since 2000…” Say it with me: “The rent is too damn high.”
Do as I say, not as I do headline from foxnews.com: “‘Defund Police’ lawmaker ripped for calling cops to watch his Lexus.” Also this one: “Fence built around Capitol ahead of State of Union to protect Congress, despite Dem claim walls ineffective.”
From FN: “Official corrects record after claims spy flight flew over US under Trump.” Time for the Emily Litella defense — “Never mind.”
Interesting development in the film business, from FN: “AMC Theatres to charge moviegoers based on seat location.”
RIP actor Charles Kimbrough, 86, perfectly cast as the anchorman on Murphy Brown. He did 248 episodes during its two incarnations. Born in Minnesota, his career spanned 1964–2018. He was comfortable on the big or small screen and the stage. In 1971 he was nominated for a Tony as Best Supporting or Featured Actor (Musical) for Company, and in 1988 he received a Supporting Actor nomination for his work in the popular series. Married twice, he is father of a son. Well done, sir. Thank you. Photo from Google Images:
Beautiful but very windy day, making for a tough session of the floating book shop. The results were better than expected. My thanks to the woman who did a swap of romances in Russian, and to the one who bought a Russian-English dictionary; and to the young man who purchased The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, The Night Journal by Elizabeth Crook, and a work of non-fiction whose title escapes me; and to the gentleman who delivered a cache of books on language and travel that included this, photo from GI:
Translation of the above dialogue:
“I’ll die without you.”
“You are just to throw away.”
