Headline from nypost.com: “NIH scientists made $710M in royalties from drug makers — a fact they tried to hide.” According to the article by Adam Andrzejewski, it came in just a two-year period during the pandemic. Government in a nutshell. There oughtta be a law.
I’m surprised at how many Democrats have spoken out about the unfairness of the Trump trial.
I sense Dems are already at work filling out November election ballots. If the polls are correct, they have a lot of ground to make up.
Positive news out of Louisiana, from NYP: “Homeless student graduates Louisiana high school as valedictorian.” Elijah Hogan, 19. Kudos, young man. Photo from NYP:
From NYP: “Idaho bar celebrating ‘Heterosexual Awesomeness Month’ in June creates stir.” Excerpts from the article by Chris Nesi: “Come join us all month to celebrate heterosexuals, for without them, none of us would be here!” And: “Every Monday in June will be ‘Hetero Male Monday,’ with a free draft beer given to ‘any heterosexual male dressed like a heterosexual male.’” Apparently, they don’t view tolerance as a one-way street.
Third time the charm. Headline from foxbusiness.com: “Clever carpenter reportedly uses Apple AirTag to help police crack massive theft case.” And the caption: “Police say stolen tools estimated to be worth between $3 and $5 million.” According to the article by Andrea Vacchiano, the guy’s van had been broken into twice previously. Kudos, Sir.
RIP NFL Hall of Fame OG Larry Allen, 52, cause of death to be determined. Born in Compton, he was nearly taken by Meningitis at six weeks old. At ten he suffered twelve stab wounds while defending his brother. He attended four different high schools. He was an All-American at Butte College, a JC. After sitting out a year, he enrolled ay Division II Sonoma State University, and was named All-American twice. He was selected by the Cowboys in the second round of the 1994 draft, the 46th pick overall, and played for them ten years. His final two seasons were with the 49ers. Here are his individual pro accomplishments: Super Bowl champion (XXX), six-time First-team All-Pro (1996–2001), Second-team All-Pro (1995), eleven-time Pro Bowl selection (1995–2001, 2003–2006), All-Rookie Team (1994), NFL 1990s All-Decade Team, NFL 2000s All-Decade Team, NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team, Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor. Not much action at the Anti-Inflation Book Shop on this gorgeous, serene day. My thanks to Wolf, who bought The Edge of Doubt: The Trial of Nancy Smith and Joseph Allen by David Miraldi, and who insisted on paying for a polo shirt I wanted him to have for free. I gave away one each to guys who have been generous to me. My Constant Benefactress gave them to me yesterday.
