While much of the planet is burning, Indonesia celebrates a fashion carnival. Can’t blame ’em. Let there be light in this dark world. Photo by Juni Kriswanto/AFP/Getty Images, posted at theguardian.com:

Is the stock market collapse that some have predicted for so long finally here? I have no idea. I do have one question. If the Fed lowers interest rates, won’t that increase inflation? I sold many of my individual stocks a while ago, but still have mutual funds that will take a big hit if there’s no rebound.

Immigration laws need reform, but rioting is never good. There’s been no info on the religion of the teenage perpetrator.

Pelosi has stated that Biden belongs on Mount Rushmore. In a twisted way this is true, as he has done more to advance socialism than any politician before him — at least those behind the scenes have. Good news on the political front, headline from nypost.com: “NY clerk accused of swiping $1M from village over 19 years forced to give up pension in first-of-its-kind decision.” May this become common practice, although I doubt it would be even a blip for taxpayers.

Sounds like progress. Caption from NYP: “Texas Gov. Greg Abbott hasn’t sent a migrant bus to the Big Apple in months after migrant flows into the Lone Star State all but dried up thanks to his strict measures to deter illegal crossings.” Kudos, Sir.

It may be the last of the heat for a while, but rain is a possibility for the next several days. My thanks to the gentleman who bought a Russian DVD, and to the young man on a mechanized scooter who purchased five entries in the Scarlet and Ivy kids’ series by Sophie Cleverly; and to whomever rated By the Numbers by yours truly five stars at Amazon.
