Among the many celebrations of 11/20 is National Absurdity Day. Is there anything more absurd than an entity that has run up a debt/deficit in excess of $20 trillion? Photo from GI:

RIP Joss Ackland, 95. Born in London, he did mostly stage work during the early part of his career. There are 206 titles under name at IMDb, screen career spanning 1949–2014. He played both D’Artagnan and his father, he did Dickens and Shakespeare, and his share of voiceovers. Big Screen highlights: Seven Days to Noon (1950), The House That Dripped Blood (1971), Hitler: The Last Ten Days (1973), Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe (1978), Saint Jack (1979), Lady Jane (1986), White Mischief (1987), Lethal Weapon 2 (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991), The Mighty Ducks (1992). Married for more than 50 years, his wife preceded him in death in 2007. He was a father of seven. Here’s a quote attributed to him: “I do an awful lot of crap, but if it’s not immoral, I don’t mind. I’m a workaholic.” Well done, Sir. Thank you. Photo from GI:

According to an article by Nicole Gelinas at nypost.com, 17 NYC residents have perished in fires caused by e-bike batteries, 27 since 2021. SMH.

This NYP headline should surprise no one: “NY ranked ‘Least Free State,’ with high taxes, debt, regulation: study.”

From NYP: “Uncle Sam Urges Anti-vaxxers to Come Back to Army.” Better late than never.

Is the election of a businessman in Argentina an omen?

Back to the drawing board. Headline from foxnews.com: “Oregon opioid deaths increase 13x after drug decriminalization law: ‘We have to do something different’.” Ya think?

Hope in this FN headline: “Several Alzheimer’s vaccines enter clinical trials amid breakthrough treatments’ success.”

The wind was minimal, the sun unfettered, perfect for doing business curbside on a cold day. My thanks to the gentleman who bought a huge textbook in Arabic for a friend; and to Wolf, who purchased From Potter’s Field by Patricia Cornwell and Lucky Luciano: The Rise and Fall of a Mob Boss by William Donati; and to the gentleman who selected Heroes, Gods And Monsters Of The Greek Myths by Bernard Evslin and William Hofmann and three DVDs in Russian; and to the young man who overcompensated me for four paperbacks from the discount boxes.
