Monday Musing

It’s carnival time in Bolivia, photo by Gastón Brito/Getty Images, posted at the guardian.com:

It’s Celebration of Life Day. Despite the horrors reported in the 24/7/365 news cycle, let’s not forget that there’s tons of good out there. What I’m most thankful for at present is something that has dramatically improved my quality of life. Last Monday I had a colonoscopy that turned up nothing. During the procedure, the doctor put a rubber band around each of my hemorrhoids. Since then there has been no bleeding. Thank you, Dr. Baradarian. May it continue.

This may be today’s most amusing news caption, from nypost.com: “The Democratic Socialists of America are red all over — with a financial situation so dire that some leaders are demanding job cuts and the layoff of staffers just like a corporate America entity…” Not surprising, since socialists want others to pick up the tab rather than pony up themselves. I expect Soros and his ilk to come to the rescue. Where’s Bernie, by the way?

DeSantis has seen the light, dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Trump. I hope that doesn’t make swamp denizen Haley the only alternative should the legal move to derail DT succeed.

Not enough to worry about? Try this from NYP: “Ice breaker: Ancient zombie viruses trapped in Arctic ice could unleash deadly new pandemic: ‘Tangible threat’.”

From NYP — or Ripley’s, I’m not sure which: “Kindergarteners would get cash for attending school under Ohio proposal in bid to fight truancy.” Then again, given the hogwash fed to students these days, they should be paid.

What kind of policy is this? Headline from foxnews.com: “Illegal immigrants allowed to board planes in US without having photo taken by TSA.”

Another gem from the Staten Island goombah:

From FN, out of Illinois: “Dem gov brags about ‘record-setting growth’ for pot sales, gets torched on social media.” Cue Bob Dylan: “…Everybody must get stoned…”

The floating book shop was back in action today. I spent half the session in the car despite the sunshine, as it was still quite cold. My thanks to the kind folks who bought and donated. Here’s what sold: seven books in Russian, a huge Russian-English Dictionary, two kids’ books, and Martin Luther King Jr.: A Life From Beginning to End (Civil rights movement) by Hourly History.
