How did the chicken get to the other side of the road? Let’s ask this cool West Virginia bird. Photo from Google Images:

More sad kudos, headline from nypost.com: “At least 3 dead in shooting at Indiana shopping mall, gunman stopped by Good Samaritan with handgun.” As I’ve said before, if a whack job opens fire in my vicinity and no cop is around, I hope an armed citizen is, which runs contrary to this foxnews.com headline: “Gun control advocates angry over ‘Good Samaritan’ in mall shooting.” Would they have preferred more slaughter?
Government in a nutshell, headline from newsmax.com: “LGBTQ Nonprofit That Got Millions From DC ‘Deserted’ as Employees Go Unpaid.”
An FN article by Houston Keene focuses on the political war being waged between the governor of Texas and Quid Pro Joe. Here’s an excerpt: “Abbott has been busing illegal migrants up to D.C. since May as the southern border crisis compounds and continues to grow amid the Biden administration’s inaction. The influx of illegal migrants has put a strain on D.C.’s homeless infrastructure as the buses continue to arrive in the nation’s capital.” Love it.

Despite the cloud cover and nice breeze, the humidity was brutal today at the floating book shop. I shouldn’t complain, as I’d expected a rain-out and put out only 20% of the wares. The best aspect of the session was that nobody delivered any books, so the inventory saw a slight, needed reduction. A couple of people told me they’d left stuff for me on the corner at my usual nook over the weekend. I’m happy it was taken. My thanks to The Quiet Man, who bought three more DVDs, two in the Transformers series and War Horse (2011); and to Wolf, who purchased Coconut Cowboy, a humorous novel by Tim Dorsey, and Sympathy for the Devil, set in Vietnam, by Kent Anderson; and to the nice flighty lady who chose Manhattan Beach, a thriller by Jennifer Egan. It’s gotten to the point that I’m so tired after work that I beg the elevator not to move from the ground floor while I’m walking toward it.
