Interesting headline from newsmax.com: “Ammunition Shelves Bare as Gun Sales Continue to Soar.” Who can blame the buyers given the coast to coast violence?

Last night Heroes & Icons, channel 9–4 on ota in NYC, ran The Town That Went Away, season three, episode 14 of Combat!, first aired in 1964. It was the weakest I’ve seen, largely comedic. There was a point of interest, however, an actress I didn’t recognize who played the daughter of the mayor of a small French town. Born in NYC in 1942, Susan Silo, born Margolis, has had a fantastic career. There are 192 titles under her name at IMDb. Until about 1980, she amassed credits appearing on popular primetime fare. Then she concentrated almost exclusively on voice-overs, doing tons, 65 alone as Dr. Karbunkle on Biker Mice from Mars. According to her bio, she “teaches workshops in this field and lectures all over the country.” Her last credit came in 2020. Kudos, madam.

Awesome anti-woke op-ed by Victor Davis Hanson today at foxnews.com. Here are excerpts: “Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Marie Khan-Cullors Brignac used her corporate grifting to buy four homes. The one she bought in California’s Topanga Canyon is surrounded by a new $35,000 security fence.” “Critical race theory guru Ibram X. Kendi offers virtual, one-hour workshops for $20,000 a pop. He is franchising woke re-education kits — in between bouts of damning capitalism as a catalyst of racism.” Kudos, sir.

My thanks to the kind folks who donated, swapped and bought books on this cool, humid day. Here’s what sold: three DVDs — The Terminal (2004), War of the Worlds (2005) and Why Do Fools Fall in Love (1998); Under Pressure: Confronting the Epidemic of Stress and Anxiety in Girls by Lisa Damour Ph.D.; The Elements of Style by William Strunk JR. and E.B. White, which has been in print since 1918, first under Strunk alone, then with the help of a former student; I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan; and another paperback whose title escapes me. I believe I’m carrying more kids books than an independent store, another 20 or so coming in today.
