Headline from foxnews.com: “Pentagon pressed on why British paratroopers leaving Kabul airport to rescue citizens but Americans aren’t.” Are you kidding me?

Here’s another from FN: “James Madison University trains students that Christians, White males are ‘oppressors.’” That’s me all over.

And a third: “3 vaccinated US senators test positive for COVID-19.” To show it’s an equal opportunity virus, the men are a Republican, Independent and Democrat.

No truth to the rumor that PBS is producing the spinoff Where in the World Is Kamala Harris.

Let’s end with a positive FN headline: “Bride hitchhikes to her own wedding after car breaks down.” May your union be blessed.

A decent sales day for the floating book shop and, best of all, no donations and no rain, although the sky was threatening for the third straight session. The inventory is so large I only put out half. My thanks to the young woman who purchased the six-part Earthsea fantasy by Ursula K. Le Guin, and to the gentleman who bought a Russian translation of The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown; and to the woman who selected a paperback in that language; and to Ira, who chose The Making of Some Like It Hot: My Memories of Marilyn Monroe and the Classic American Movie by Tony Curtis and Mark A. Vieira, which he hopes will please his wife; and to Alice, who jumped on Worst Case by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge; and to the Latino gentleman who parked his bike and cleaned out the CD section, taking home discs by Madonna, Toni Braxton, Aretha Franklin, Constance Hauman, and a compilation.
