Odds & Ends
Douglas Croft took this amazing pic in California yesterday:
All of the following are gleaned from today’s NY Post, edited by yours truly: I don’t doubt that Harvey Weinstein is slime, but he’s entitled to a vigorous defense. Students at Harvard don’t seem to understand this basic tenet of the American way. They demanded that Ronald Sullivan, Weinstein’s attorney, be stripped of his role of dean. Who’s more at fault — the yahoos who made the demand or the officials who caved to it?… The identity of Shakespeare has been questioned for decades, writers offering an opinion as to who actually wrote the plays and sonnets. A recent article in The Atlantic attributes the works to a woman. It’s not really surprising. Next it will be a person of color, then a woman of color… John Beilein had a good thing going as head basketball coach at Michigan. I don’t know what he was thinking in taking the helm of the NBA Cavaliers, who have declined considerably following the exit of Lebron James… From the Weird But True column: I don’t know what to think of this. An Australian man has been playing lottery numbers that came to him a dream 13 years ago. They finally came in, netting the guy a million bucks.
From Yahoo’s Odd News: Anthony Weiner has been released from his halfway house stint. What will he do in the future? Politics seems out of the question. Or is it? Maybe he should move to Denmark, where a man running for Parliament has taken political ads to a new level. Joachim B. Olsen, Olympic shot put silver medalist, member of a center-right alliance, is making his case on one of the world’s top adult websites, Pornhub. He says: “…election campaigns are serious … but there must also be some humor.” At first I was surprised. I guess it’s sometimes still hard to believe porn is mainstream.
My thanks to the gentleman who bought 16 books in Russian, and to the one who purchased four paperbacks in English; and to The Quiet Man, who found four more DVDs to his liking; and to actor-singer Johnny Socks, who went home with the Interview with the Vampire (1994) DVD. He will soon be posting short works he’s been in to youtube. I’ve been waiting years to see them.
