Headline from nypost.com: “Maryland surgeons successfully transplant pig heart into human patient.” The accompanying article from AP states that the guy, 57, had no choice. Ineligible for a regular transplant, he would have died. The team used a heart that had undergone gene-editing to remove a sugar in its cells responsible for hyper-fast organ rejection. Three days and counting — hope for those on the waiting list.
Headline at newsmax.com: “#BareShelvesBiden Trending on Twitter.” Quid Pro Joe is in Georgia today to tout the federal takeover of elections. Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will be a no-show at the speech, despite it being her signature issue. Meanwhile, a conservative group has a message of QPJ:
Tons of bad news has come out of California regarding population decrease and crime, so I find the following as remarkable as it is surprising. The state ran a $45.7 billion surplus in the past fiscal year, despite the pandemic. What is it doing any differently than NY, which runs astronomical deficits? Both adhere strictly to liberal philosophy. Could it be simply a matter of the weather attracting the wealthy and productive to a warm climate? Governor Newsom has proposed universal healthcare, regardless of citizenship, in hope of attracting illegals to stem population loss. On the downside, the cost of living is ridiculous.
Only in the twisted world of politics does the following make sense, headline from foxnews.com: “Illegal immigrants to receive estimated $5.6 million in taxpayer money for deportation legal defense: report.”
I made a concession to the bitter cold and age today and passed on the book shop. I’m looking forward to what looks like three straight days of moderating temperatures. Meanwhile I received some disappointing news from the doctor. Everything is good except my cholesterol levels. The top number, 230, is acceptable, but the bottom, 150, is way over the 100 benchmark. I had to schedule an appointment for three months from now. I just ordered a natural substance that supposedly lowers it. I should probably clean up my diet a bit too. If that doesn’t work, I’ll have to go on meds, something I strive to avoid. Deep breathing exercises are helping keep my BP in check.
