One Coincidence, Big Bucks

A youtube video on coincidences introduced me to a nifty bit of trivia. 14 years before the Titanic sank, Morgan Robertson wrote a novella titled The Wreck of the Titan: Or, Futility. Here are similarities between fact and fiction besides the names of the ships, facts from Wiki: Both were described as the largest craft afloat and the greatest of the works of men - and “unsinkable”; triple screw (propeller); shortage of lifeboats; both struck an iceberg. People credited Robertson with precognition and clairvoyance, which he denied. Here’s a cover of one of the many editions:

An audit found New York’s Medicaid program duplicated payments to the tune of $102.1 million over four years.

In the first ten months of the current fiscal year, tax revenues shot up a healthy 3.4%. Typically, the swamp increased spending by 8%.

Here’s an amusing headline from foxnews.com: “Lifestyles of the rich and socialist: Bernie Sanders has 3 houses, makes millions.” His net worth is $2.5 million. Fauxchontas is worth $12 million, “Middle Class” Joe Biden $9 million, Kamala Harris $6 million. She owns houses in Washington DC, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Here’s another headline: “Daughters of Philly mayor, NJ city councilwoman arrested after late-night street brawl.” Chips off the old blocks. It happened at the Jersey shore. Neither Snooki, JWOWW or The Situation was involved.

It was another ideal day for selling books. My thanks to the gentleman who bought An Amazin’ Era: The New York Mets 25th Anniversary 1962–1986, and the illustrated hardcover Charles Dickens: Four Novels (Oliver Twist; A Tale of Two Cities; Great Expectations; A Christmas Carol); and to Wolf, who purchased Red Metal by Mark Greaney & Lieutenant Colonel Hunter Ripley Rawlings IV (USMC); and to the woman who donated three books in Russian.
