Orgies, Tattoos & More

In the philosophy of “Let’s not get crazy now,” here’s a headline from nypost.com: “Snctm’s LA & NYC orgies thrusting onwards in face of coronavirus.” Glad to see someone has the priorities straight.

So what’s it cost to remove a tattoo? According to an article at foxnews.com: the smallest $600 per session, the larger can be several thousand dollars. The number of sessions needed for full removal varies between five and 10.

I’m in nearly 100% disagreement with Andrew Cuomo politically, but I must say that he has struck the right chord regarding the coronavirus, unlike the buffoonish Mayor Red Billy de Blasio and the ever despicable Senator Chuck Schumer… Also in politics, I just heard Sean Hannity refer to MSNBC as MSDNC. Kudos.

Is the Saudis creating a glut that lowers the price of oil a bad thing for the average person? I suppose it will hurt those heavily invested in oil company stocks. I don’t have any individual holdings, but I’m sure my mutual funds must have a stake in an oil company or two. Until I see evidence that this is a negative, I look forward to paying less at the pump, as I did when I filled up Saturday.

RIP consummate actor Max Von Sydow, 90, who was at home in the most serious works as well as popular fare. Born in Sweden, he had a career to be envied, garnering two nominations each for an Oscar and Emmy along the way. He is in 13 of Ingmar Bergman’s dives into existential angst, the most famous as the knight playing chess with the Grim Reaper in The Seventh Seal (1957). It is a toss up whether he will be remembered most for that role or his turn as The Exorcist (1973). He also played Jesus in The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965), the apostle Peter in the Quo Vadis mini-series (1985), the devil in Needful Things (1993), evil Bond nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Never Say Never Again (1983), Anne Frank’s father in the 1967 TV movie, and old King David in the Solomon TV mini-series (1997). He also made appearances in the following film or TV series: The Simpsons, Game of Thrones, Star Wars and Rush Hour. Since Woody Allen is a great admirer of Ingmar Bergman, it was only natural that Von Sydow would make it into one of his films, Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), arguably Allen’s best work. Here’s a quote attributed to Von Sydow: “The film you hear about the most is The Exorcist. When people come up to me and say, ‘Oh, you scared me!’ I was the good guy in that film!” Awesome, sir. Thank you. Movie buffs will never forget the following images:

Sprinkles put the kibosh on the floating book shop today. I chose not to wait it out, to not risk damaging the goods, even though I suspected it wouldn’t rain hard.
