Sign of the times: According to an article at nypost.com, Jeffrey Epstein’s death was posted at online message board site 4chan 40 minutes before the story hit news outlets.

This morning talk radio host Mark Simone, a personal friend of the President, said 56 Clinton associates have committed suicide through the years. I googled it. The first few pages were dominated by links to stories about Trump’s tweets linking Epstein’s death to Billary. I found an article at freewebs.com/jeffhead that must have been written circa 2000. Until that time the number of suicides was ten. 13 other people were murdered. Three died in accidents, one skiing, one in a fall, one in a car. The piece includes plane crashes, most notably the one that killed Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown and his lawyer, and 34 others. I find it hard to believe the Clintons would order the killing of all those folks just to get Brown. Their misdeeds are about money and, in Slick Willie’s case, infidelity. Even though he flew on one of Epstein’s jets 27 times, it may have been about cash and not sex with underage girls.

The cheers in the background are the left’s delight in today’s 800 point drop in the stock market, caused by a bond indicator that has a 100% track record in predicting a recession.

Here’s a rarity spotted in a garden in England — a pink grasshopper:

Gene is another in a long line of folks I’ve heard rave about an Alaskan cruise. Not only was the scenery breathtaking, all the connections went like clock work, and the food was great and plentiful.

My thanks to Wolf, who bought five books in Russian, and to the woman who purchased three, which included a translation of Irwin Shaw; and to Lynn, who selected Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel; and to the woman who chose a book on woodworking for country homes, which she somehow will apply to her passion for knitting; and to the woman who took home a Danielle Steel paperback; and to Matt, who settled his tab and showed me pictures of the hotel he stayed at in Amsterdam; and to the sweet elderly woman who donated six romance novels; and to the Braniac Brothers, who dispatched their home attendant with four works of non-fiction; and to Herbie, who dropped off a hardcover novel.
