Computer games must continue! Filipinos play on, photo from Google:

This damn virus refuses to comply, headline from newsmax.com: “COVID-19 Spreading in Counties With High Vaccination Rates.” Carry on, America.

Also from NM, new hope on the Alzheimer’s front: “… completely noninvasive approach to manipulate the power of gamma brain waves works by simply showing mice or people flickering light and buzzing sound at a particular frequency.” Whatever works. Nothing scares me more than losing it. Then again, remember what happened to David Banner when he experimented with gamma rays. “You won’t like me when I’m angry.”

There’s no explaining why the mind fixates on certain things. Since yesterday my brain has been repeating a couplet from Soundgarden’s Spoonman, written by front man Chris Cornell, who passed away at 52 in 2017: “…all my friends are Indians (All my friends are brown and red)…” Although I like the song, it’s not among my favorites — not even close. Why is it hounding me? Weird. Where’s the off button?

Early ratings for the Woke Olympics are way down compared to the 2016 games. Kudos to those who have tuned out. I haven’t watched since the ‘80’s.

RIP Dusty Hill, ZZ Top bassist, 72. Thank you, sir. Your work will live on.

Another good session for the floating book shop, business almost as good as the cooler weather. My thanks to Wolf, who donated five books, four in Russian; and to the kind folks who bought. It occurred to me to make a list of what sold: The Gold Coast by Nelson DeMille, Native Son by Richard Wright, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William L. Shirer, The Rock Cycle (Cycles in Nature) by Suzanne Slade, Wonderful Names of Our Wonderful Lord by Charles Hurlburt and T C Horton, Confucius from the Heart: Ancient Wisdom for Today’s World by Yu Dan, a dictionary, Hope Deferred: Narratives of Zimbabwean Lives (Voice of Witness), a book on folklore in Russian, Richard Wright and the Library Card by William Miller and R. Gregory Christie, Belle by Beverly Jenkins, Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History by Vashti Harrison, The Watsons Go to Birmingham — 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis, Chicago (2002) on DVD, a book on Cigars.
