Poll This
In a country that seems split right down the middle, how appropriate that the presidential election result won’t be known for some time. There will be — must be — recounts. I didn’t sleep well, certain Trump had lost. There’s slim hope, as the Democrats have been far better at voter fraud than Republicans through the years, most famously in 1960 when, it is believed, Chicago pushed JFK past Nixon. I’d thought mail-in voting would be Trump’s undoing and the circumstances for that align. Several of the remaining states in which Trump was leading suddenly have Biden ahead. Give the Dems credit for knowing how to steal an election. How ‘bout those pollsters?
The only surprise was Nicole Malliatakis easily defeating incumbent House rep Max Rose. Although the district that includes Staten Island has been perhaps the only Republican stronghold in NYC, the trend seemed to be leftward, mirroring the rest of the city. I’d guess Rose was done in by siding with those who wish to defund the police. He is contesting the results.
This headline at Yahoo Sports seems absolutely ridiculous: “Pro-Trump athletes are risking their legacies.” Why would that be? Half the country voted for the President. What am I missing?
It was a gorgeous indian summer day in Brooklyn. My thanks to Wolf, who bought The Bad Sister by Kevin O’Brien; and to the gentleman who purchased the massive two volume set of Webster’s International Dictionary, and Poem-a-Day: 365 Poems for Every Occasion by Inc. Academy of American Poets and Edward Hirsch, and The Pocket Stoic by John Sellars, and a bunch of kids books; and to the woman who selected a book in Russian; and to the one who insisted on paying for two despite donating three; and to Herbie, who donated a couple of paperbacks; and to the home attendant of the Braniac Brothers, who delivered three works of non-fiction.
