Celebrating in Mumbai, Reuters photo by Hemanshi Kamani:

It’s only money. Headline from nypost.com: “Staten Island DA and judge power couple criticized for ‘double dipping’ with six-figure pensions on top of $200K-plus salaries.” The sense of entitlement never ceases to amaze.

From NYP: “Former ‘Price is Right’ producer shares protocol for contestants so excited they ‘pee their pants’.” Depends?

Headline out of Minnesota from foxnews.com: “Blue state’s AG hammers car makers for ‘tempting’ thieves: ‘Too easy to steal’.”

I’ve found most of the news regarding liberalization of weed laws amusing. This is not. From FN: “Daily marijuana smokers face higher risk of heart attack, stroke, says American Heart Association study.” According to the article by Angelica Stabile: “Daily cannabis users had a 25% increased risk of heart attack and a 42% increased risk of stroke.” There were 434,104 respondents.

I visited the pulmonologist today to discuss my latest cat scan. It looks like everything is status quo, but now he wants me to do a pet scan — ugh! At least one worry was relieved. While doing an exercise recently, lying flat on my back and raising my legs six inches and spreading and closing them ten times, I noticed a protuberance in the middle of my torso. As Arnold said to the kid in Kindergarten Cop (1990, screenplay: Murray Salem, Herschel Weingrod, Timothy Harris):

I’ve completed my latest proofing of the By the Numbers book file. It’s more than twenty thousand words, about five thousand short of going to print. I currently don’t have any story ideas, so everything is on hold. I would love to interview porn star Sara Jay and either use it as is or as a guide for a profile, but why would she give me the time of day?

Decent weather today for curbside business. My thanks to Gordie, who donated three hardcovers, and to the lovely elderly lady library volunteers, who delivered crayons and stencils; and to Herbie, who bought Murder for Revenge, a collection of twelve stories; and to the gentleman who purchased a beautiful pictorial from the Wildlife series, The Waterworks by E.L. Doctorow, Heat Wave by Tom Straw writing as Richard Castle, and Present and Past by yours truly.
