Here’s today’s NY Post front page, a take-off on Waldo:
The Post found that President Trump has answered five times as many questions from reporters from mid-July to mid-September, 1141 to 274, than Hidin’ Biden.
Is it too soon to ascribe Indian Summer to a day? Whatever, it was another beauty. My thanks to the kind folks who bought books, especially the lovely young woman who went home with about 15, including William Styron’s Sophie’s Choice, Dostoevsky’s Notes from the Underground, Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha, and yours truly’s Killing, which is now sold out. My thanks also to the Lady Eve, who donated a hardcover on Asperger’s Syndrome, and to the home attendant of the Brainiac Brothers, who delivered three choice works of non-fiction, including Medicine Man — Shamanism, Natural Healing, Remedies And Stories Of The Native American Indians by G.W. Mullins & C. L. Hause, which Mark pounced on.
Also among those three books — a pictorial on the work of artist Morris Louis (Bernstein), a proponent of Color Field Painting, which, as explained on his Wiki profile, “greatly simplified the idea of what constitutes the look of a finished painting… eliminating gestural, compositional drawing in favor of large areas of raw canvas, solid planes of thinned and fluid paint, utilizing an expressive and psychological use of flat, and intense color and allover, repetitive composition.” Tragically, he succumbed to cancer at 49 in 1962, the cause “attributed to prolonged exposure to paint vapors.” The following, Number 36 (1962), sold at auction for 1.5 million pounds in 2015. No disrespect intended, but what am I missing?
