Another new term has been fostered by the cyber world — Vishing. It’s similar to email phishing except that criminals get sensitive personal and financial information using the phone. Hasn’t this been around for decades?

The most amusing statement of the day came from the president, who has called for drug testing before the debates. Rumor has it Biden, prior to a public appearance, is shot with a cocktail to keep him alert. Pelosi is telling him not to debate. If he is truly in mental decline, why would his party risk exposing it?

Phil Mickelson, 50, one of golf’s all-time greats, is now eligible for the Champions (Seniors) Tour. Naturally, he won in his debut. I wouldn’t be surprised if he sets a record for successive victories. It’s almost unfair. Will Tiger Woods play on that tour when he comes of age?

Athletes are threatening a boycott. How will we survive?

Boycott this: A gunman in Minnesota shot someone to death, then put a bullet in his own head as cops closed in — and certain citizens decided it was a good reason for looting Minneapolis stores. Who would argue with such logic?

Despite the troubling increase in crime in NYC, I have not seen lawlessness in my area of Brooklyn. Will that continue? I have no idea. Yahoos seem emboldened by a license to ill. 400 windows have been broken on subway cars, mostly on the 7 line. It is believed one man is responsible. The MTA is running out of replacement glass. Damage has been estimated at $300,000. If caught, will he be released like so many other felons have been? If he works, shouldn’t his wages be garnished until the damages have been paid?

OMG! Are the Frogs going prude? Here’s a foxnews.com headline: “French police criticized for telling topless beach-goers to cover up.” Sacre bleu! What’s next — conservative government?

After a one-day reprieve from the heat and humidity, it returned. The book display was in the sun for about an hour before it was engulfed by shade. My thanks to the tall gentleman who purchased Topaz by Leon Uris and Moving Targets by Sean Flannery, and to the other who caught me as I was packing up, who bought a Danielle Steel paperback and The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox. Why did that second customer’s purchase make it feel like the session was a success? Funny how the mind works.
