Headline from foxnews.com: “LA fires: Beyoncé makes $2.5 million donation to relief efforts as stars support devastated community.” Kudos.
RIP actress Leslie Charleson, 79, a TV mainstay. Born in Kansas City, Mo., her career spanned 1964–2023. There are 44 titles under her name at IMDb, a figure that doesn’t begin to express how prolific she was. She did 1427 episodes of the continuation of the novel/movie version of Love Is a Many Splendored Thing, and 2079 episodes of General Hospital. She made many guest appearances on popular prime time fare. On the big screen she was in A Lovely Way to Die (1968), The Day of the Dolphin (1973) and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1975). In the early ‘70s she did several television commercials for Pearl Drops toothpaste, which inspired Richard Campbell and Wayne Smith to create a comic book superhero, The Pearl Drop Kid, who fought villains with a giant super-powered toothbrush. She was a mom of two. Well done, Madam. Photo from Google Images. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any of the comic:

The forecast said partly sunny. There was less than a minute of sunshine on this otherwise pleasant January day, fine for doing business curbside, although I packed up a half-hour early to make sure I didn’t overdo it regarding the cold. My thanks to Alex, who bought a hardcover in Russian, and to the three kind folks who donated books.
