Rebuttals

Headline from nypost.com: “Massive volcano eruption could weaken ozone layer, scientists warn.” It happened on Tonga in the South Pacific. Pity the poor environmentalists who may have to factor this into their calculations.

Headline from newsmax.com: “Ex-Adviser Kellogg: ‘I Was in the Room’ as Trump Requested Guardsmen for 1/6.’” The committee does not allow rebuttal. From what I’ve heard, Trump requested ten to twenty thousand troops on three different occasions before January 6th.

I think leftist policies are madness. Today I give equal time to hardcore liberals. First up, Slick Willie: “This week @POTUS struck a serious deal to cut drug prices for people on Medicare and fight climate change, received a stellar July jobs report, shrank the unemployment rate to 3.5%, eliminated bin-Laden’s successor, & gas prices fell to a 50+ day low. Great week, Mr. President!” And from Progressive Caucus: “Highlight of the July Jobs Report: Wage growth is fastest in the lowest-paying sectors. Hotel and restaurant workers’ wages rose by 9.4% more the past 3 months over the prior 3. The unemployment rate for Hispanics is the lowest on record. This is a bottom-up economic recovery.” And from Quid Pro Joe: “Today’s jobs report shows that the economy added 528,000 jobs in July. More people are working than at any point in American history. That’s no accident, it’s results.” It will be interesting to see if there is a rebuttal from the right. I wonder what the jobs breakdown is in red and blue states.

Bless the cloud cover, although it did not lead to many sales at today’s session of the floating book shop. My thanks to the woman who bought a hardcover in Russian, and to the web book seller who purchased Pellucidar by Edgar Rice Burroughs; and to the lovely Polish woman who took home The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera; and to Gary, who donated a paperback version of Scarlett: The Sequel to Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind by Alexandra Ripley.
