RIP TV legend Bob Barker, 99. Born in the state of Washington, he earned a basketball scholarship to what is now Drury University. Service in WWII interrupted his education, which he later resumed, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in economics. He began in radio, eventually hosting his own show. Game show producer Ralph Edwards heard and liked his style, and hired him to host Truth or Consequences, which ran from 1956-’75. He hosted The Price Is Right from ‘72–2007, which brought him 14 Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host. He was also honored four times as its producer, and with a Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a member of the Television Hall of Fame and the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame. From 1967 to 1987 he hosted the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. He has twelve credits under his name at IMDb as an actor, playing himself in all but four. In a cool bit of trivia, he was a black belt in Karate. He was married from 1945 until his wife’s death in 1981. Awesome, Sir. Facts also from Wiki, photo from Google Images:

Still battling, headline from newsmax.com: “Trump Raises $7.1 Million Since Atlanta Booking.”

RIP Arleen Sorkin, 67, cause of death currently undisclosed. Born in DC, her acting career spanned 1982–2012. She is best remembered for her recurring role in Days of Our Lives, ‘84–2010, 427 episodes. She also appeared in 25 episodes of Duets, ‘87-’89. Along the way she became a master of the voiceover in animated superhero fare, most notably in 25 episodes of Gotham Girls. We share something in common — an uncredited role in Trading Places (1983), she at a party scene, me on the Exchange floor. She has five credits as a writer, all but one in TV, Picture Perfect (1997), starring Jennifer Aniston. She has four credits as a producer, earning an Emmy nomination, shared with others, for Bhutto (2012), a portrait of the assassinated Pakistani leader. She is co-author with Paul Slansky of the book My Bad: 25 Years of Public Apologies and the Appalling Behavior That Inspired Them. Married to Christopher Lloyd, she was a mom of two. Well done, Madam. Photo from GI:
