Sad State of Affairs

Although war with Iran has seemed inevitable for a long time, being on the brink is scary. Let’s hope the decisions of our leaders are wise. The reaction to the strike has been predictable. Where was the outcry during the previous administration? According to an article at thebureauinvestigates.com, a total of 563 strikes, largely by drones, targeted Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen during Obama’s two terms, compared to 57 strikes under Bush. Between 384 and 807 civilians were killed. Although I do not object to the killing of Qasem Soleimani, I don’t believe it has made the world a safer place. There are too many of his ilk ready to take his place.

Five inmates have been killed in Mississippi prisons this week. And in the narco-state of Mexico, an inmate was killed Thursday at a prison where 16 died during a riot on New Year’s Eve… South Africa has the continent’s highest murder rate, an average of more than 50 a day… Captain America actress Mollie Fitzgerald has been charged with killing her mother.

From an article at Yahoo News: State troopers in Washington state spent ten hours digging cars and a semi out from under hills of tumbleweeds that flooded a road on New Year’s Eve in an event being dubbed “Tumblegeddon.” It is a common occurrence in that area. Here’s a pic:

No luck selling books today at a new location, the viaduct on Avenue Y between East 15th & 16th, where there are no meters. Still, it was better than staying home.
